Number of steps required:
 
Each model can have 8, 9, 10 or 11 steps. When ordering, you will have to choose the correct number of steps for your ceiling height and complete the item number by indicating the number of steps needed for your ceiling height. Example: Item 6027 for ceiling height of 7' will require 8 steps. Therefore, the complete item number to order will be 6027-8. If your ceiling height is between 7' 6" and 8' 5", 9 steps is needed and the item number to order will be 6027-9.

Cover door construction

Non-insulated cover door:  3/4" sanded particle board cover

*Clear opening

(S) - 4", rough opening width minus  4"
(D) - 12.5", rough opening length minus 12.5"

*Clear opening measurement indicates how big of a box can you get through the opening into the attic after the ladder unfolded. For example item 6443 requires rough opening 22.5" x 43.5", the clear opening will be 18.5"( 22.5" -4") x 31" ( 43.5" - 12.5").

Be aware when ordering small opening stairs. For example, item 6027, the rough opening is 19.75" x 27.5" , the clear opening will be only 15.75" x 15". Just barely to crawl through.
